roller jams

hither

from time to time i lean on video store clerks for completely out there/random film knowledge. i always find the interaction amusing, take for instance my recent inquiry with my neighborhood video store clerk (over the phone, mind you) about this film. i could not for the life of me remember an actors name, directors name, where it was shot (other than in the UK) nothing nothing nothing.

i've seen this film before, so equipped with my stellar memory for details (obviously not for important things such as the basic title of the film) i began to describe the film to the clerk:
'it was shot in the UK and i rented it from y'all about 2 yrs ago, the main characters are a man and a woman that attend rock conc..."
he interrupts me, and with astute confidence and says,
'9 songs'
"yes! yes! yes! that's it! that wasn't so bad, now was it?"--
feeling mildly guilty that i potentially sounded like every other nim rod that calls with an obtusely vague title request.
i was then praised for my taste and asked if i was coming in to get it, with a hint of a wink in his tone.

although it has countless gratuitous sex scenes, butt up against rock show footage, knee deep with pretension and elitism... the film has a sold raw nature that is clearly based on the excellent chemistry between the actors.
